A person receiving Social Security or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) based on blindness qualifies for AABD if otherwise eligible. A person who is not receiving SSA or SSI due to blindness can qualify for AABD Medical if found blind by CAU. For persons whose SSI was denied by SSA due to their income, and SSA did not make a blindness determination, CAU makes the determination.
