PM 03-02-03: SNAP

WAG 03-02-03

To receive SNAP benefits in Illinois a person must live in Illinois. But the person does not have to:

  • live in an area for a set period; or
  • plan to live in the area permanently; or
  • live in a fixed dwelling or have a fixed mailing address.

A person vacationing in an area is not a resident of that area.

A person revised text can apply for SNAP benefits at any Family Community Resource Center except those living in a Supportive Living Facility (SLF), see WAG 02-04-02.

A person cannot be in more than one SNAP case during any one fiscal month. But a person living in a shelter for battered women and children can get separate benefits if they were included in a case with the person who abused them.
