IDHS 24/7 State Operated Facility Resources

IDHS has been directly administering the Moderna vaccine to residents and staff in 24/7 facilities since January. IDHS was provided a direct allocation of the Moderna vaccine, which has been distributed onsite through our staff and established operational processes.

The Moderna vaccine has been authorized for distribution through a rigorous scientific and regulatory process. Large, multi-step clinical trials that enrolled more than 70,000 people demonstrated the vaccine is safe for individuals 18 years of age and older and approximately 94% effective at preventing the virus that causes COVID-19.

The vaccine is voluntary and free of cost. To receive the vaccine, you must sign and return two copies of the Moderna Consent Form (one for each dose). Consent forms are available through your Center Human Resources Department.

Many staff have received their COVID-19 vaccine, and we strongly encourage remaining staff to vaccinate to protect against COVID-19. Vaccination will afford IDHS facilities a critical layer of protection against the virus. This is an important opportunity for all residents and staff and is the best way for us to prevent future outbreaks at our facilities.

If you are still undecided, we encourage you to reach out to your personal physician, Center clinical staff, Center leadership, and/or DHS.COVID19@illinois.gov with any questions. If you change your mind, consent forms are available through your Center HR department.
