WAG 02-07-02-d.
Cash Application
Do not automatically reopen a denied case based on information received after the due date to provide verification. File the information in the denied case record. If the person applies again, use the information to determine eligibility.
If the denied applicant appeals the denial decision, reopen the denied application and determine eligibility if the denied applicant:
- filed a timely appeal of the denial (see PM 01-07-03); or
- filed an appeal within 60 days of the date of the denial notice.
Medical Application
Re-register a denied medical case using the original application date without a new application when:
- the application was denied for failure to provide required information or verification, and
- the applicant provides all required information and verification within 60 days following the Date of Notice of the denial.
Do not require the applicant to file an appeal to reopen the case if the information was provided within the 60 days. If eligible, authorize benefits based on the original application date, including any backdating.
This policy does not affect the client's right to appeal the decision on the medical case or change any deadlines to file an appeal of the application that was denied for failure to provide required information or verification.
SNAP Application
If a SNAP application was denied because verification was requested and not provided, reopen the case without requiring a new application if the requested verification is provided by the 60th day after the application was filed.
