COVID-19 Pandemic Response - Delay of Medical Redeterminations

Policy Memorandum 

Summary:

• Effective immediately, medical cases will no longer be closed for failing to respond to a redetermination or due to certification period ending.
• To avoid closure of medical, certification dates will be updated systematically.

Medical Will No Longer Close for Failure to Complete a Redetermination or Certification Period Ending

Due to the COVID-19 Emergency Declaration, CMS has authorized states to delay redeterminations for medical coverage immediately. CMS has authorized this delay to continue until the Emergency Declaration has ended.

IES Changes

Each month IES will update certification period end dates as appropriate until the emergency ends.
