The Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (IDHS/SUPR) is continuing to expand screening, assessment, treatment, case management, community intervention, and recovery support services for individuals with gambling disorders.

Gambling Statewide Needs Assessment RFP - IDHS/SUPR is seeking bids to conduct a needs assessment of gambling disorders in Illinois. The primary goals of the state-wide study are to examine the prevalence of legalized gambling and its patterns, the State's capacity to meet the needs of individuals with gambling disorders, and the characteristics of individuals at-risk for gambling disorders. More information can be found in the Request for Proposal (RFP) at www.bidbuy.illinois.gov. Questions are due by November 4. Proposals are due by November 19 at 2 pm.

NOFO to Expand Gambling Services - IDHS/SUPR posted a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for further expansion of gambling services.

  • This NOFO allows licensed SUD treatment providers to apply additional funding to deliver gambling disorder treatment services.
  • The NOFO allows other community-based organizations to apply for funding to provide aggressive outreach to populations and areas of the state that are most impacted by the expansion of gambling in Illinois.

The opportunity is posted at: https://www.dhs.state.il.us/page.aspx?item=119007. This NOFO has a rolling deadline, meaning entities can apply anytime between now and April 1, 2020. Applications will be reviewed ongoing as they are received by IDHS/SUPR while funds are available. Interested organizations are encouraged to apply early.

Billing for Gambling Tool - Earlier this month, IDHS/SUPR funded SUD Treatment Organizations received training on how to administer gambling tools at intake. A webinar to clarify billing DARTS for this service, Special Billing for Gambling Tool: SFY2020, will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, from 2-3pm. Gambling Disorder Counselor Four-Day Core Training (30-hour Course) - IDHS/SUPR is offering the Four-Day Gambling Disorder Core Training free of charge for all counselors and therapists who want to increase their skill and knowledge in assessing and treating problem gambling and Gambling Disorder. Through this training, participants may earn up to 30 hours of continuing education units which can be applied toward the Problem and Compulsive Gambling Certification (PCGC). Participants must arrive on time and stay for the entire day each day to receive CEU credit.
