Volume XI, Issue XXXVI - May 2018

From: Danielle L. Kirby, Director
Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery

There are several openings for the June and July American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria training sessions. The Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (IDHS/SUPR) has re-opened registration to offer more opportunities for licensed substance use disorder treatment providers and other interested organizations to register for this extraordinary opportunity by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to receive free training on the ASAM Criteria for Treatment of Addictive, Substance-Related and Co-Occurring Conditions. This is a two-day training event, and several dates are available.

For over twenty years, ASAM Criteria has been the foundation of regulated clinical requirements for substance use disorder treatment delivered by Illinois licensed organizations and yet there have been limited accessible and affordable ASAM training opportunities. The initiation of this training represents our commitment to ensure, going forward, that ASAM training is available to enhance the skill level of our existing workforce. There are also future plans to offer a "training of trainers" workshop to develop a cadre of trainers who can continue to deliver this type of training.

Register for training today: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SUPR_ASAM

At this time, if you have already registered, you may register an additional person to attend the training. We have space in the remaining training sessions. Note that space is limited for each event. The sooner you sign up, the more likely we can ensure you will be registered at your preferred location.

All training materials are free to participants and there is no registration fee. You will be responsible for any associated travel costs. Please direct any questions to Stephanie Frank at 312-814-6401 or email her at Stephanie.Frank@illinois.gov.
