RE: Fiscal Year 2017 Funding


The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) is contacting you because the General Assembly extended fiscal year 2017 funding for funeral and burial through June 30. Funeral Homes and individuals can submit claims for deaths that occurred between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017. All claims must be received and processed by September 30, 2017. All IDHS guidelines will still be adhered to in processing claims to determine eligibility, although we realize that the timeframe for submitting claims will have to be adjusted, the dates of death will have to fall within the above mentioned dates in order to be considered for processing. To ensure that claims are processed within the allotted timeframe, please ensure claims are submitted with the proper documentation necessary to make a determination for eligibility.


IDHS is still reviewing the budget for FY18 and will reach out when more information is available.
