Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI) Summer Camp Program


June 16-22, 2019

  • Three one-week camps will be held during the month of June.
  • All camps will be held on the ISVI campus in Jacksonville, Illinois, which is located west of Springfield on Interstate 72.
  • 2019 ISVI Summer Camps are scheduled for June 16-22, 2019.

Deadlines

  • Deadline for applications to be sent out is April 12, 2019.
  • Deadline for accepting complete applications is May 03, 2019.

Purpose

  • The Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI) camps will bring together students who are blind and visually impaired from schools throughout Illinois for a week-long learning adventure. Each camp will present an overview of current trends in an area of concentration.

Who May Attend

  • Students who are visually impaired, ages 9-19, are eligible to attend the camps if they reside in Illinois, do not currently attend ISVI, are not high school graduates, and have appropriate independent living skills.

Cost

  • There will be a fee of $15. No student shall be denied an opportunity to attend camp solely for an inability to pay. Scholarships are available by calling Barbi Ballard at 217-479-4446.

Transportation

  • Families are responsible for providing transportation to and from the camps.

Tours

  • Tours will be available following the pro-gram on June 22nd. Please call 217-479-4404 if you would like to tour the campus.

Junior STEM Camp

Ages 9-12

Engage in team building activities that apply STEM skills to unearth your talents & treasures. Discover and experience these concepts through games, building with 3D materials and music.

STEM Camp

Ages 11-16

(Space is limited)

Students will shine as they problem solve strategies using math and science skills, integrating technology and engineering with the use of robotics and team building activities.

Transition to Independence

Ages 15-19

(Space is limited)

  • Nutrition/Fitness
  • Community Involvement and recreation
  • Independent living skills
  • Employment related skills
     

Plan your sparkling future by learning independent living skills that promote successful transition to adulthood through nutrition, fit-ness, technology, employment skills, and recreation.


Note:  There will not be a luncheon following the program this year.
