Summary:

  • The Illinois House Task Force on Hunger and the Efficient Distribution of SNAP Benefits charged IDHS to spread SNAP issuances more evenly throughout the month rather than limiting availability of benefits to the first ten days of the month.
  • To accommodate the task force decision, IDHS agreed to move availability dates for active 94/96 cases with SNAP from the 4th, 7th, and 10th to the 13th, 17th, and 20th.
  • To minimize the impact of moving the availability dates, the change will occur over a three month period starting in March, 2014.
  • Beginning 02/10/2014, new approvals or reinstatement (TA 12/TAR 98) of Group 22 cases will be assigned an availability date of the 4th, 7th, or 10th.
  • The affected cases will receive a client notice informing them of their new availability date.
