Warm Our Warriors Clothing Drive 2013

Helping Families. Supporting Communities. Empowering Individuals.

IDHS Supports our Troops with the Warm our Warriors Clothing Drive

Illinois Department of Human Services staff in Springfield are in the holiday spirit. The lobby at the IDHS headquarters in Springfield is decorated for Christmas but there is also something special - a military look.

IDHS staff are supporting Governor Quinn's Warm our Warriors campaign to ensure that Illinois veterans and their families have winter clothing. To highlight the charitable effort several staff have brought in military articles to help showcase the Warm our Warriors theme.

Security guard Dee Merrifield donated a Christmas tree and military uniforms. IDHS staffers Patti Thean, Gail Maxeiner, Colette Ellenberg, and Flo D'Elia have also helped decorate adding a homey living room to the IDHS lobby. In addition, Dan Underwood of buildings and grounds, a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Navy, brought in the hats from the four branches of the military.

Collections for the Warm our Warriors drive will continue until December 20. So bring in new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, scarves or socks and non-perishable food items. For more information on Warm our Warriors, call Ethel Spencer at 217-557-4193.
