The Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Rehabilitation Services (DHS/DRS) will begin using an Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) System for the services you provide through the Home Services Program (HSP). EVV is a timekeeping system that requires your use of the customer's telephone to "call in" and record the time that you start and stop working for your customer.
The EVV System will be required for everyone providing in home assistance to customers of the HSP to record the time that they work. EVV is also required by Illinois law for all agencies providing in-home services to customers in the Home Services Program. EVV will help ensure that our HSP customers are receiving the proper services. Whether you work directly for a customer or provide services through an agency, you will be required to participate in the EVV program.
DHS/DRS is working with Sandata Technologies to put the EVV system in place beginning January 1, 2014. EVV is free to you and all HSP customers, and will not change anything about the services that you provide. The EVV system will provide you with new resources that allow you to view the hours that you have worked for HSP customers and your paycheck for each pay period online.
When EVV starts on January 1, 2014, it is very important that you have permission from the HSP customer for whom you are providing services, to use their telephone as soon as you arrive to call a toll-free number and start the time for your visit. You will need to use the HSP customer's phone again when you stop work. If the HSP customer that you provide services to does not have a telephone, they should contact their HSP office to receive information on how to obtain one.
