Audience
Staff responsible for assessing for tardive dyskinesia using the Dyskinesia Identification System Condensed User Scale (DISCUS).  This course contains medical terminology designed for health care professionals, i.e., Nurses, Physicians, etc.

Objectives

This course is designed to enhance skills in understanding Tardive Dyskinesia and the Dyskinesia Identification System - Condensed User Scale (DISCUS).

Participants will be learn: 

  • defining Tardive Dyskinesia (TD)
  • abnormal muscle movement conditions
  • basic cause of TD
  • appraisal of the symptoms of TD
  • reviewing first and second generation antipsychotic medications
  • risk factors for TD
  • completion of the DISCUS form

Three (3) hours

Continuing Education Credits are offered for all professional licenses for which the Division of Developmental Disabilities is certified by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to sponsor Continuing Education hours.

QIDPs may also apply this training toward the 12 hours annual continuing education credits requirement.
