Through funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, the Illinois Department of Human Services is implementing the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program (MIECHVP) in six communities across the State. Those communities are:
- Cicero Township
- Englewood, West-Englewood and Greater Grand Crossing
- City of Elgin
- City of Rockford
- Macon County
- Vermilion County
MIECHVP Strategy
MIECHVP is designed to use evidence-based home visitation as a strategy to:
- strengthen and improve the programs and activities carried out under Title V;
- improve coordination of services for at-risk communities; and
- identify and provide comprehensive services to improve outcomes for families who reside in at-risk communities.
MIECHVP Models
Agencies will be required to implement one of the following home visiting models:
- Early Head Start - Home Based
- Healthy Families America
- Parents as Teachers
- Nurse Family Partnership
