Program Description

Provides screening and assessment, treatment and psychiatric care to women who are suffering from postpartum depression. Training is provided to agencies and medical providers.

Target

Women identified as having or at risk for developing postpartum depression will be identified and referred for treatment. 

Purpose

To provide screening and assessment, treatment and psychiatric care to women who are suffering from postpartum depression.

Services

Treatment consists of psychotherapy and psychiatric evaluation and follow-up care. Program specific case management services are provided. In-service training on the administering, scoring, and general interpretation of the Edinburgh Post natal Depression Scale (EPDS) is provided to community agencies.

Delivery Method

Clients receive their psychiatric evaluations at a north side location. Transportation cards are available for those clients who do not have a car to get to the north outpatient offices for their evaluation with the doctor.

The program data demonstrates the steady growth in clients served. The program is 20 clients over caseload and growing.
