Audience
Staff responsible for designing behavior programs and for related training and implementation at the direct support level, i.e., Psychologists, training coordinators, QIDPs, agency directors, social workers, RNs and other professional level staff.

Purchase $1 temporary permit at the SIU Security Building, 801 North Rutledge.
Objectives This course illustrates the need for staff training in the basic principles and techniques of positive behavioral support. It introduces methods and materials that can be used to build staff competencies in this area.  Participants will be taught:
  • the principles of positive behavioral supports
  • the purpose of a functional assessment
  • the components of a good behavior plan and the basic principles of learning and behavior
  • how to apply the principles of positive behavioral supports in the development of behavioral plans

Continuing Education Credits are being offered for all professional licenses for which the Division of Developmental Disabilities is certified by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to sponsor Continuing Education hours.

QIDPs may also apply this training toward the 12 hours annual continuing education credits requirement.

  • Upon completion and receipt of the class registration form for a training event or CBL, it will be entered into the DHS OneNet Learning Module system.

  • Upon completion of the IPBS training event the IDHS on-site facilitator will provide registrants with a Certificate of Attendance to maintain as documentation of CEs for the training record files.
