Illinois' integrated strategy for improving maternal and child health focuses on four outcomes:

  • Reducing the very low birth weight rate;
  • Reducing the low birth weight rate;
  • Reducing Medicaid expenditures during the first year of life; and
  • Reducing the infant mortality rate.
