When the screening decision is that the person does not need LTC, a 2nd opinion can be requested. The request can be made by the applicant, their representative, or the applicant's medical care provider.
A HFS designated physician gives the 2nd opinion and may change the original decision or concur with it. Approve payment for care if the decision is that LTC or SLF care is needed. Do not approve payment for care if the decision is that LTC care is
not needed.
