The following examples show what to do when the new SNAP unit member is not included in another SNAP unit for the fiscal month of the reported change.
Example 1: Ms. K's fiscal month is the 16th to the 15th (Group 06). On 01/03/2010, she reports that her son is living with her. He is determined eligible to be an SNAP unit member. Add him for the entire December fiscal month.
Issue supplemental benefits for December and January. Add the son for the regular roll month of February.
Example 2: Mrs. S's fiscal month is the 16th to the 15th (Group 09). On 03/15/09, the LO is notified that Mrs. S had a baby on 03/14. Add the newborn for the entire February fiscal month.
Issue supplemental Mercury benefits for February and March and add the baby for the regular roll month of April.
The following example shows what to do when a new SNAP unit member is included in another FS unit for the fiscal month of the reported change.
Example: Mr. T's fiscal month is the first to the 31st. On 03/09, he reports that his daughter is living with him. She is removed from her mother's SNAP unit for the April fiscal month and added to Mr. T's case for the April fiscal month.
Example:Mr. A receives SNAP from the 1st - last of the month. On 05/06/2010, he reports that his wife and daughter moved in. His wife and daughter received benefits in Indiana through May 31. Add the wife and daughter to Mr A's case for fiscal June.
