When developing or reviewing the Responsibility and Services Plan (RSP) of a client with a protective payee, discuss issues relating to the need for a protective payee plan. When it applies, discuss financial management, alcohol or substance abuse
treatment status, and child school attendance.
Be sure the client knows about community resources for counseling and guidance services when a protective payee is assigned. Tell the caretaker relative that the protective payment plan will be stopped when the TANF unit is financially stable or the
caretaker relative has overcome their drug problem or the child(ren) start attending school regularly. When appropriate, refer the client to a service provider.
