Example 1: A family of 3 in a Group II county applies for cash
benefits. They have earned income of $510. They pay no child care.
Step 1: Determine eligibility for TANF.
| Gross Earned Income |
$510 |
| Employment Deduction |
- 90 |
| Total Countable Income |
$420 |
| TANF Payment Level |
$417 |
Since the family is ineligible for TANF, determine eligibility for Family Assist:
| Gross Earned Income |
$510 |
| Employment Deduction |
-90 |
|
$420* |
| EIE ($30 and 1/3) |
-160 |
| Total Countable Income |
$260 |
| Family Assist Standard |
$417 |
*$420 is less than the Standard of Need, so the family is eligible for the $30 and 1/3 EIE.

| EIE ($30 and 1/3) |
-390 |
| Total Countable Income |
$720 |
| Family Assist Standard |
$474 |
*$1,110 is less than the Standard of Need, so the family is eligible for the $30 and 1/3 EIE.
Step 2: Since the family is ineligible for Family Assist, determine eligibility for All Kids/FamilyCare Assist:
| Gross Earned Income |
$1,200 |
| Employment Deduction |
-90 |
|
$1,110* |
| EIE ($30 and 1/3) |
-390 |
| Total Countable Income |
$720 |
| All Kids/FamilyCare Assist Standard |

$460 |
| Family Assist Standard |
$417 |

|
$720 |
| EIE ($30 and 1/3) |
-260 |
| Total Countable Income |
$460 |
| All Kids/FamilyCare Assist Standard |
