Pregnant women and parents who are under age 18 must live with their parent, legal guardian, or adult relative, or in a maternity home or other adult-supervised arrangement to qualify for TANF assistance for themselves and their children. There are
exceptions to this requirement. A pregnant woman or parent under 18 is not required to meet this requirement if:
- they are exempt, or
- they have not received TANF for 6 months without living with their parent, legal guardian, or adult relative, or in a maternity home or other adult-supervised arrangement, or being exempt.

When the minor parent has received TANF for 6 months without meeting the live-at-home requirement or any of the exemption criteria, the case must be changed to Medical Only.
