WAG 06-10-00: Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility (MPE)

Date stamp the MPE application.

Review the application for completeness. A complete MPE application is from a qualified MPE provider and contains the applicant's signature, the MPE provider's signature, the MPE provider number, and the MPE application date.

Review the clearances to determine if the applicant has an active medical case or an application pending for medical assistance.

Do not register an MPE application for a client in an active medical case, including spenddown (
see WAG 06-10-11
).

Always register an MPE application on the day it is received, as a mail-in application, answering Y to "Is this an application for Healthy Start-Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility (MPE)?"

Enter the total income, household size, and provider number.

If the applicant does not have another pending medical application, use the MPE application date as the date of application and as the MPE start date.

If the applicant is pending on another medical application, use the application date of the pending application as the MPE start date.
