A TANF case can include optional persons in addition to those persons required by filing unit policy. An optional person is someone who is eligible for TANF that the client wants to include in the case. Optional persons are:
- a child who has no minor siblings in the case;
- a caretaker relative who has no children of their own in the case; and
- a spouse of the caretaker relative, who has no children of their own in the case.
