A person must apply for other benefits, with the exception of Veterans Aid and Attendance benefits. A person receiving AABD does not have to apply for this type of VA benefit. The person should be encouraged to apply, but it is not required. See

Clients must use all potential resources available to them. This includes claiming the maximum number of allowable income tax exemptions and filing income tax returns.
