THREE IMPORTANT TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES IN JUNE!

The Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (IDHS/SUPR) is offering three trainings in June for all IDHS/SUPR funded Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment organizations.

CEO 201 IDHS/OCA Compliance Training

All IDHS/SUPR funded SUD treatment organizations are invited to participate in a webinar on August 5, 2019 from 11 am to 12:30 pm by IDHS/SUPR and IDHS's Office of Contract Administration (OCA) regarding compliance monitoring of IDHS/SUPR providers. The OCA Compliance Unit reviews all IDHS funded programs, which include SUPR providers. This unit focuses on provider fiscal and administrative issues based on Administrative Rule 509, compliance with 2 CFR 200 and good business practices. OCA Compliance Officer Wade Horrocks and IDHS/SUPR Deputy Director Rick Nance will discuss common elements that are reviewed during a site visit, as well as frequently found deficiencies. There will be a discussion about internal controls and fiscal management related to IDHS/SUPR contract requirements. OCA will also discuss the Risk Assessment tool that used to determine if a provider is potentially at risk. Providers can register at https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/8279868313576656641.

Problem and Compulsive Gambling Certification (PCGC) Training

Training will be held for staff who wish to treat people with gambling disorders, whether in a dedicated gambling program or as qualified staff as defined in Section 7 of the FY20 Contractual Policy Manual (https://www.dhs.state.il.us/page.aspx?item=29747). The 30-Hour PCGC training will be held on June 19-21, 26 and 28, 2019 in Chicago for all clinical practitioners of substance use disorders and mental health disorders. IDHS/SUPR funded SUD treatment organizations will be reimbursed by IDHS/SUPR for costs related to staff attending this training, specifically registration fees, lodging, travel, and per diem. These costs will be based on the rate scale currently recognized by the State of Illinois. Agencies will be responsible for submitting to IDHS/SUPR the names of attendees and all receipts related to the above approved costs by August 1, 2019. All requests for reimbursement must include receipts. Requests will not be processed without receipts. Download the registration brochure at: http://www.dhs.state.il.us/page.aspx?item=117443. Organizations are not required to have a dedicated gambling program to be eligible for this waiver - all IDHS/SUPR funded SUD treatment organizations are eligible.

Assessing and Screening for Gambling Disorder Webinar

Beginning July 1, all IDHS/SUPR funded SUD treatment organizations will need to screen and assess all patients as part of their intake process. See the Smart Alert sent June 6 for more information https://www.dhs.state.il.us/page.aspx?item=117854.

A webinar will be held on June 27 from noon - 1 pm to address the administration of the gambling disorder screening tools that have been approved by IDHS/SUPR. Use of these tools by IDHS/SUPR funded SUD treatment providers will help to better understand the scope of the problem in Illinois. The information from the screening tools will be used to inform the needs assessment IDHS/SUPR will be conducting in FY2020 to better understand gambling in Illinois.
