A client who is referred to a co-located or offsite MCO/treatment provider for an assessment must follow through with the referral. The client must accept treatment, if the MCO/treatment provider determines it is needed. There are no exemptions from
participation, except when the client is no longer in the TANF case or is employed at least 30 hours per week.
As long as the client is participating in the treatment program, they are not required to participate in another work and training activity, unless recommended by the treatment provider.
A client who fails to attend the referral appointment or to participate in treatment, when recommended, is subject to an Activity Requirement sanction, if reconciliation is unsuccessful (see WAG 03-13-05).
A client who fails to attend the referral appointment or to participate in treatment as part of their Work First assignment is subject to Work First noncooperation penalties (see PM
21-02-06-k and WAG 21-02-06-k).
