A written request is needed when adding anyone to a GA Family and Children Assistance (GA-FCA) case. Determine eligibility for the person.
Send the client a written notice of approval or denial within 45 days of the date of the written request. Do not deny an application solely to meet this deadline.
Start cash benefits from the date the written request is received or the first date of eligibility, whichever is later. Issue the increased payment so that benefits are received by the 45th calendar day from the date of receipt of a written
request.
Determine eligibility for medical backdate once the case is determined eligible for GA. See PM 17-02-05-b to backdate medical coverage.
