revised manual textSNAP unit has a member who has to meet the Work Requirement

When a  SNAP unit has a member who has to meet the work requirement, IES sets the approval period at 12-months. After receiving 3 full months of SNAP and the work requirement is not met, eligibility for SNAP ends.

  • For a single person unit, if the ABAWD Time-Limited Clock shows 3 unmet months SNAP benefits are canceled.,
  • For a SNAP unit with multiple persons, only the individual who did not meet the work requirement is ineligible for SNAP. If the ABAWD Time-Limited Clock shows 3 unmet months, IES disqualifies the ineligible person for SNAP.

revised manual textSNAP unit has a member who is temporarily exempt from the Work Requirement

When a person is temporarily exempt from the work requirement due to a medical condition IES sets a 12-month approval period.  Set a task as reminder to follow-up with the customer prior to the date that the exemption is expected to expire. The work requirement must be met if the individual no longer qualifies for an exemption.

SNAP Units With Frequent Changes

Assign a one or 2-month approval period if there is a strong likelihood that the SNAP unit will have frequent or major changes in unearned income or circumstances. This will require an override in IES.
