- The TANF Initial Employment Deduction (IED) is increased effective 3/1/13 due to the revised 2013 Federal Poverty Levels.
Initial Employment Deduction (IED)
Beginning March 1, 2013, use the increased Initial Employment Deduction (IED) to determine financial eligibility for TANF. The IED is increased due to revised 2013 Federal Poverty levels, and is equal to the difference between 50% of the current FPL for the applicant's family size and their TANF payment level.
An informational attachment Initial Employment Deduction (IED) based on 2013 Federal Poverty Levels (pdf)is provided to show the calculation. The IED table in WAG 25-03-02 (1) is updated. The system is programmed to use the increased IED for initial eligibility determinations at Intake and for SWAP's beginning 3/1/13.
