| Overview |
This course focuses on the Supervisor's role. This module will provide participants with the information needed to ensure that individuals with developmental disabilities live work and receive support services in a safe environment. The training will cover:
- physical and environmental site safety
- assuring that direct support staff are familiar with emergency and routine protocols

| Objectives |
Participants will be taught:
- establishing regular safety inspections for residences and other sites
- assuring that direct support staff are familiar with emergency and routine protocols
- correctly implementing evacuation drills
- properly training persons responsible for the provision of transportation
- how to determine whether their agency is currently using the safest cleaning products
- ways to develop a walking safety tour of their sites
- how to determine whether changes are needed at their sites in order to provide a safe environment
- how to correctly test water temperatures at sites and adjust water temperatures, if necessary
- to determine if their agency has appropriate evacuation procedures
- to assess agency need for additional transportation training

| Intended Audience |
- New and experienced House Managers, QMRPs, Residential Directors, Residential Site Supervisors and Day Program Supervisors, Site Safety Officer, Safety Chairperson and Maintenance staff responsible for safety and building maintenance.
