Finding Help in Illinois

Where to go?

Who to talk to?

What questions to ask?

It's hard to know the answers to these questions. The most difficult thing is to find out about help that's available locally. And we can all benefit from identifying programs that really open up full lives in their own communities to people with ASD.

With that in mind, the Illinois Autism Clearinghouse people decided that an entire area of our web site should focus on how you can get the help you need in Illinois. As close to home as possible.

Please let us know about anything you find useful. The more we share, the more we know! Right now we're under construction, but in the near future…

  • General for suggestions and links to tools that others have put together. Some of them were done on the national level but give at least the basics about the options in Illinois.
  • Local for tools developed for specific areas of Illinois and people to go to locally. We plan to add a pathfinder to give you a step-by-step guide to what your options are and how to proceed.
  • Statewide for an overview of programs and services developed at the state level. This includes projects and programs of the Autism Society of Illinois, the Illinois Department of Human Services, the Illinois State Board of Education, and others.

Again, we need your ideas and input to make this area really work. Please think about what you need and let us know.
