HIPP

The Health Insurance Premium Payment (HIPP) Program pays health insurance premiums for some customers who have high medical expenses and who have private health insurance available. The health insurance the customer is eligible for must be cost effective. Customers must cooperate with HIPP to be eligible for medical.

HMO

This abbreviation stands for Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). HMOs are prepaid managed care programs. All routine medical care, hospitalization, and referrals for specialized medical care must be coordinated by the HMO. TANF customers may enroll in an HMO or receive medical services from a doctor(s) of choice.

HOPE

The Hospital Opportunity for Parentage Establishment (HOPE) allows for the process of establishing parentage to begin in the hospital at the time of birth of a child to unmarried parents. Hospital staff must provide the child's mother and natural father the chance to complete a verified petition and an order to establish a parent and child relationship. The HOPE process permits parentage to be established without the parents having to go to court.
