For regular roll cases, enter the date (month and year) of the last month of the approval period in Item 24 of Form 552.

If all benefits for the approval period are issued on the Mercury rolls, no entry is required for the SNAP approval period ending date.

When an SNAP REDE is completed and the unit remains eligible, advance the month and year date in Item 24 of Form 552. The ending date of the new approval period is figured by advancing the date by the number of months in the new approval period.

Example: On Form 552, 06/08 is shown in Item 24. An SNAP REDE is completed and the new approval period is 6 months. The new ending date entered in Item 24 is 12/08.

AIS

When an application is approved in AIS, the system assigns the Item 24 date based on the effective month of the TA 11 Mercury approval action except for categories 91, 92, and 93.

  • For EZ REDE cases, AIS adds 5 months to the effective date of a TA 11 Mercury action.

Example: For a 04 case with EI, a TA 11/TAR 02 was processed with an effective month of 02/08. Then the regular roll approval was processed for 03/08. AIS enters 07/08 in Item 24 on the regular roll approval.

  • For Category 08 approvals in SNAP work requirement areas containing persons 18-49, no one under age of 18 (code 6 in Item 73), and CAF Screen 24C has someone coded NO, the system adds 4 months to the effective date of a TA 11 Mercury action.
  • For cash and medical cases not in EZ REDE status (except 24-month approval periods), AIS adds 11 months.

NOTE: If the local office processes a regular roll approval before the TA 11 Mercury approval, Item 24 is left blank and the worker must enter the correct month and year. The worker may also change the date and year entered by AIS. The date entered must pass through the IPACS edits.

  • For Categories 91, 92, 93 - AIS adds 23 months to Box 77.

IPACS Edits on Item 24

The Item 24 IPACS edits are:

  • For a case in EZ REDE status, or a Category 08, 94, or 96 case, Item 24 cannot exceed the effective regular roll month plus 6 months.
  • For a cash, or medical case not in EZ REDE status, Item 24 cannot exceed the effective regular roll month plus 12 months.
  • For AABD cash and medical cases, Item 24 cannot exceed the effective regular roll month plus 24 months.

The IPACS edits allow more than a 6 or 12-month approval period, so it is very important for the worker to enter the correct Item 24 date. The IPACS edits are looser to allow for same day processing of REDEs.

Example: TANF/SNAP case in Group 08 in EZ REDE status - SNAP approval period ends 06/08. Mail-in Form 4765 received 06/05/08 and processed the same day, effective 06/08. The new approval period does not start in 06/08. The new approval period runs from 07/08 through 12/08.

Data entry in all the systems, including ACM, must pass through the IPACS edits.
