Record information in the case record, on every vehicle owned by the client.
For the fair market value of a vehicle see WAG 25-03-07, the chart on the average fair market value of licensed vehicles. If a vehicle is no longer listed on the chart, accept the client's estimate of its value. If a client claims that their vehicle is in less than average condition, require that they provide proof of the fair market value.
For a new vehicle, antique vehicle, or custom vehicle that is not listed in the chart, determine the fair market value by contacting a car dealer.
For recreational vehicles, include the following information in the case record:
- title;
- registration cards;
- purchase agreements, sales receipts, financing records; and
- receipts of purchase or canceled checks.
